A Place to Learn, Grow, and Play

It's hard to believe that we are now into the count down to Summer!  Where has the time gone?  We will be quite busy working and learning over the next couple of weeks until June 20th.

Our reading continues to grow as we learn more sight words and continue to reinforce our letters and sounds as we read and write more and more!

We are learning about different kinds of sentences too.  Number sentences as we explore addition and subtraction.

But best of all, our caterpillars are now in their chrysalids and we are anxiously awaiting our butterflies.

Remember to check folders daily for important upcoming events...field day, end of the year show, half-days...so much in a short amount of time...but what fun it will be!

xoxo

Something to Think About

When we plant a rose seed in the earth, we notice that it is small, but we do not criticize it as "rootless" or "stemless".  We treat it as a seed, giving it the water and nourishment required of a seed.

When it first shoots up out of the earth, we don't condemn it as immature or underdeveloped; nor do we criticize the buds for not opening up when they appear.  We stand and wonder at the process taking place and give the plant the care it needs at each stage of its development.

The rose is a rose from the time it is seed to the time it dies.  Within it, at all times, it contains its whole potential.  It seems to be constantly in the process of change, yet at each stage, at each moment, it is perfectly all right as it is.

Important Things to Remember

* Make sure your child is dressed for the weather.  We will go outside each day, weather permitting, even in the winter.

* Please send in all notes (dismissal, absent, lunch money, etc.) in an envelope with your child's name on it and what it is in regards to.  Place all these important notes in your child's blue folder.

* Our $4.00 snack money is due every Tuesday.  Kindly send it in a labeled envelope.  Also know that you may pay for the month or in any amount that you wish.

* If your child is sick, you need to call one of our school nurses, either Mrs. Kelly or Mrs. Skalanka at  945-2784.  When your child returns to school, he/she needs to have an absentee note.

* Kindly make sure that all your child's belongings (jackets, backpacks, lunchboxes, etc.) are labeled.  This will help ensure your child's items return home.  If by some chance, an item is lost, please check the lost and found box located by the cafeteria doors.

Our Special Schedule

Monday   Computers - remember your smile

Tuesday:   Gym - wear your sneakers

Wednesday:   Library - please bring back your book so you can check out a new one

Thursday:    Art - if you haven't already, please bring in an old t-shirt with your child's name printed clearly on the front

Friday:    Music - don't forget your love of music

Homework

Each Monday, you will find a packet with weekly assignments in your child's blue folder.  Kindly complete the assignment on the night that it is listed under and return it the following day.

For example,

If "complete the letter m page" is listed under Tuesday, the 10th, complete the page Tuesday night and place it in your child's folder so it comes back to school the next day.

If you happen to have a very busy or special week, feel free to complete some of the assignments ahead of time.  Just try not to make it a habit of doing it all in one night.

If You Need to Reach Me

So many little and big things touch our lives each day.  Please feel free to contact me at anytime if you have questions, concerns, or think there is something I need to know about.  Either write me a note and send in it a labeled envelope in your child's folder or call the main office at 945-2776 during school hours.  Thank you kindly for all your support and help!
