Dear John Trumbull Primary School Families,It is hard to believe that the 2007-2008 school year is coming quickly to an end! We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for helping to make this school year so rewarding for our students and staff! Your support and enthusiasm has been overwhelming and so very much appreciated. We thank you all very much!
As you head into the glorious days of summer we wanted to mention a couple of important items:
Please remember to complete a request for change in normal bus transportation if your child will be transported from an address other than your home address. This must be done each year and includes transportation from area day care settings. This request must be made in writing by August 1, 2008. The form may be obtained at the school, through the Munson House or downloaded online at www.watertownctschools.org. (Go to Forms)
The main office will be closed as of Monday, July 7, 2008 and will reopen on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Prior to the July 7th closing the office is open from 7:30-2:30 AM.
Class lists will be posted at the end of August. Look for information about the posting date in the Town Times. The first day of school for students is September 2, 2008. Incoming Kindergarten students will have an orientation on August 28, 2008. A mailing with specific times will be sent home.
If you are shopping for a new backpack this summer, please avoid purchasing the ones with wheels. We find them to be too cumbersome for our students and they do not fit in the lockers.
Please encourage your child to read during the summer! Remember to jot down the titles of each book read (or each book read to your child) and return the list to your child’s teacher during the first week in September. We want 100% participation in the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge!
As you may know, two teaching positions have been eliminated from the 08-09 budget. Therefore, we anticipate some movement of students between the pods. We will do our best to ensure a smooth transition for all!
We wish good luck and success to our second graders who are moving onto Polk and Judson! Again, thanks for your continued support! Have an enjoyable, restful summer vacation! See you in September!
